Dallas Bathtub Services Shower Pan Refinishing Shower pans are usually one of the following.

The truth is scratches in the fiberglass or acrylic will appear to be dirt to the naked eye. Most people will turn to an even more aggressive cleaner to try to correct the problem, only to cause more scratches and more of a dirty appearance. On these types of surfaces that contain fiberglass resin I add fiberglass resin into the polyester coating! This way you can have the shower pan refinished to a like new condition and I will chemically weld the new surface into the old surface using two different chemicals. The first being silane (which is used by the dental industry to bond porcelain fillings and crowns in dental work. The second being the fiberglass resin that is going to allow the coating to melt into the old surface) The result is a permanent surface you can enjoy for years to come through fiberglass shower pan refinishing instead of the very expensive shower pan replacement. Fiberglass shower pan refinishing If you would like to learn more about shower pan refinishing and other surfaces that can be repaired and refinished. Cultured Marble Shower Pan Refinishing Cultured marble is another surface that is made from crushed limestone and fiberglass resin. This type of shower pan can also be refinished using the fiberglass resin infused into the copolymer coating. Much like fiberglass and acrylic shower pans, cultured marble is a weaker substrate that will realize a strength improvement with refinishing. Some cultured marble shower pans, sinks and bathtubs will usually have surface cracks in the caused by the temperature fluctuations of hot water versus a room temperature cultured marble surface. The great news is I can not only give you a great looking surface that is much more durable than factory cultured marble but with the copolymer coating the surface cracks will me filled in and bonded. This repairs the surface cracks and prevents new ones from forming in the future without having to replace these surfaces with can easily be thousands of dollars. The customer will realize a price savings of over 75% versus replacement. Cultured Marble Refinishing Tile and Grout Shower Pan Refinishing Some tile shower floors or tile shower pans made of tile and grout can experience grout failure. This occurs when the porous grout becomes saturated with water and the customer finds the shower area is leaking! The customer can be assured with the proper resin additives and using water proof copolymer coatings infused with silicone and polyester resin the shower will once again be sealed and the customer will save thousands of dollars versus replacement! Tile and Grout Shower Pan Refinishing Dallas Bathtub Refinishing in Dallas TX I have often been asked "don't you refinishers all use the same product?" The short answer is no. The detailed answer is no, here is why: That almighty dollar plays a role in it. Let's break it down just a little bit. If you want a bathtub to look pretty good under light to normal use for several months you can get away with using a paint like aliphatic acrylic urethane. The cost of this is about $100.00/ gallon from a big name paint store and it is thinned with lacquer thinner which cost $17.00 Gallon from this big name store. Now, in my experience (yes, I too used this product in the 1990's) so I am saying from my personal experience of doing the work myself and actually making a conscious effort to do the job to the very best of my ability for the customer. I had problems with peeling and flaking after literally 2 to 3 uses. Let's keep in mind this was back before the internet so it was pay money to someone in the business to teach you the trade. With that in mind, I was told to use an epoxy primer first, then after it dries for about an hour use the Aliphatic acrylic urethane. (It amazes me that most bathtub refinishing businesses are still using this process). So, with the epoxy primer then finish coated you can get a bathtub to look pretty good for several months and also understand it was thinned 40 - 50 % with lacquer thinner. This is what you will find in most all apartment and hotels and unfortunately the majority of refinishers use this method and they are fine with it.
What do I use that is so different? I use a polyester coating that absolutely does not involve painting an epoxy primer on the bathtub, tile, shower or whatever it is that I am refinishing. The polyester coating is infused with polyester resin and is actually made for bathtub, tile and shower refinishing. I also do not thin the solution with cheap lacquer thinner, also it is important to note that the specialty thinner used is called a melt down agent and it is used in 1 - 2 ounce dilutions per quart of copolymer coating (not 40-50% reduction). This is not available from any paint store and is actually a specialty coating specifically made for refinishing. This is why the etching process is important because it creates pores and microscopic scratches that allows the silane molecular bonding agent (also used in the dental industry for porcelain fillings and dental work) to penetrate the old surface and bond into the old surface. There are different resins that are used depending on the surface being refinished, these resins are added into the copolymer coating. If you want to simplify this into a dollar amount then think of it as instead of spending $150.00 for a one product fits all scenerio we are now at $347.00 for a gallon of coating specifically for porcelain bathtubs and showers. Another $347.00 for a gallon of coating for fiberglass based surfaces. The silane molecular bonding agent is $125 in addition to the coating cost and it is not diluted. The silane is also mixed at about 1 ounce per quart into the coating so the 9 - 12 coats applied can be tied together. I am in no way saying that I am the best there is. I think there are people that can run circles around me to be fair. However, I will say that I bring experience I have gained since 1992 with the correct coatings and the correct equipment to use those coatings combined with the fact that I honestly care about your project! You will not find me working on apartments and hotels. You will not find me to be the cheapest (which is why I explained about the products used). Bathtub refinishing saves money versus replacement that using the correct coatings gives the customer a quality surface that is expected to last over 20 years! Cracked Shower pan A cracked shower pan can cost thousands of dollars to replace. However, it does not matter if the shower pan is tile, fiberglass, acrylic or cultured marble they can be permanently repaired.
The cracks are filled in with a fiberglass resin and then sanded flush. Afterwards the entire surface is etched so the pores are open and microscopic scratches are covering the surface. Next a high quality molecular bonding agent called Silane is applied to the surface. This chemical was developed by the aerospace Industry to bond paint in high altitude aircraft and space equipment. Next a layer of fiberglass resin is applied over the surface tying together the repaired areas with the surrounding shower pan. The final step is 12 coats of a copolomer coating infused with polyester and silicone resin is applied using a very low pressure H.V.L.P. applicator with 2 pounds of air pressure. The final result is a new surface that is integrated into the old surface! Dallas Bathtub, Shower and Tile Refinishing |
