Today was another bathtub that had been refinished with Aliphatic Acrylic Urethane. This was not only a guess but a fact . The resident said this bathtub had been refinished a few weeks ago by a professional it was used 3 times for showers. He admitted that he had called me when it first needed refinishing a few weeks ago but found someone that quoted him $150 less. He was told we all use the same product. The customer admitted he had a gut feeling that is was not going to be refinished correctly because he had read my website. If you look at the video below I was able to remove the coating with just one hand as I filmed and I found soap residue under the surface. Not only was the tub coating not bonded but the surface of the tub had not been properly cleaned.

I am a local Dallas bathtub refinishing professional after removing the old painted coating from the tub, which only took a few minutes longer than the video showed. I had to put the camera down to use both hands. As you can see in the video I am still wearing my jacket. It shocked me how easily it peeled up. Afterwards, I cleaned the tub surface and removed the soap residue, which I also show in the video. Then etched the surface with a spun fiber disk rotating at 2600 R.P.M.'s (this causes scratches and opens pores in the old surface giving it bite). I hand rubbed silane coupling agent into the pores of the old surface creating a chemical weld between the two surfaces. The last of the video shows a glossy white 100% polyester surface applied to the tub with a slip resistant resin on the tub floor.
