Preparing For Dallas Bathtub Refinishing Services
Congratulations! You have scheduled to have the very best surface in our Industry applied to your bathtub, tile or vanity. This is no hype, just honestly the best surface available with a very strong tensile strength with test proving the fact it is every bit as strong as baked on powder coating.
Most customers ask what needs to be done before I arrive? I also have a F.A.Q. Page.
Most customers ask what needs to be done before I arrive? I also have a F.A.Q. Page.
- Most customers will find they do not need to do a thing before refinishing.
- Please make sure the Bathtub and Tile above the tub are completely dry before arrival. If possible do not use the fixture the morning of refinishing. (I understand if it has to be used, It's not a problem)
- Clean the bathtub the best you can a day or two before your appointment. You can use Comet, Ajax or whatever you want on the pre-clean. This is simply giving the surface an extra clean, along with my clean for refinishing.
- Any work you may be doing around the Tub should be completed before your refinishing appointment (with the exception of glass frames). This prevents accidents from happening, causing you to pay a trip charge for me to come back out.
- I must have a drain in place to refinish the tub. I you are going to replace the drain Please do this before refinishing (I mask the drain so I will not mess up the new drain). Due to liability I can not replace drains or hardware. This would make me responsible if the drain pipe cracks under the tub or some leak occurs. If you bought a "Watco Glue Down Drain" (please google this if interested) as mentioned on my F.A.Q. page, I will put that on for you at no charge after refinishing. These drains are very easy to put on (literally 30 seconds). They are a cover that goes over your existing drain and they have a stopper, available online. They secure with provided silicone adhesive. Great Product that the homeowner can put on after refinishing too. They cost about $20.
- ⏱🛑 - The Tub can be used 24 hours after refinishing. Please know it takes about 30 days to reach its ultimate bond and hardness. You wont know this because this is being done under the surface. I mention this so you do not apply tape to the surface during the first 30 days (if painting the bathroom) and just so the customer knows how refinishing works. You can 100% use the fixture 24 hours after refinishing though.
- Minor drips from the downspout are okay (I can secure a rubber glove around the down spout). However, if there is a constant leak coming from the downspout please have this repaired before refinishing for best results. The new surface can not get wet for 24 hours and I am sure you know the erosion power of water, we don't want to have the water erode through the new surface over the upcoming months.
- As stated on my home page, please remember I am applying a new surface by hand. If you look close enough and long enough you will probably find a blemish. I am restoring the surface, not replacing it. Most customers say it looks brand new! However, I ask to please limit traffic around the refinishing during the 24 hour curing process to limit any kind or airborne particles. I truly want you to LOVE your new surface.
- 99% of customers don't need this information. I supply it just in case. Most customers need to do nothing!
