Today's Bathtub refinishing project took me out to Frisco. Once again I can feel the hand of God blessing me with not only work, but with working for the absolute nicest people around. I ended up refinishing a double sink vanity at no/charge for these people and we literally talked like old friends that had not seen each other in ages.

I refinished the bathtub in the guest bathroom, In the master bedroom was a stand up shower that needed the fiberglass shower pan refinished. The homeowner looked and me and said I have scrubbed and scrubbed but just cannot get this shower pan clean.
I explained that this is actually a very common problem. The fiberglass becomes scratched and scratches look like dirt to the naked eye. So even though she was scrubbing these areas instead of removing dirt she was creating more scuffs and scratches. However, I was able to get them fixed up and made the bathtub, shower pan and bath vanity look new again for them!

They Bathtub, tile, shower and floor tile refinishing video above is a before of after of each surface.

• the surface was sanded and etched
  
• silane coupling agent was added to tie the new and old surface together.
  
• the floor received 2 additional coats of bonding epoxy, to hold up for the extra foot traffic and cleaning of tile floors.
  
• The final application on all surfaces was 7 -9 coats of polyseter coating to mimic the look of porcelain. This has a life expectancy of 20 years.

The first picture is the Paint I peeled and stripped off the bathtub. The second picture being the refinished bathtub. Notice how yellow the epoxy paint was compared to the polyester coating. This was only 4 weeks old. The epoxy will yellow will bleach is used to clean the bathtub. I thanked the homeowners for allowing me to not only refinish the bathtub correctly for them but for being truly interested in learning why the paint did not work. It was as simple as paint goes on top of the old surface, Bathtub refinishing is chemically welded into the old surface through a synergistic approach. Hello! Welcome to another addition of Old Man Chronicals. This is were I talk about how I snap, crackle and pop after doing (4) refinishing projects in one home :) It's terrible, I mean my knees are cracking.. Back is popping... I find myself praying constantly and I mean quality short prayers like "Father, please help me up these stairs" :)
Okay, Okay ... it's not that bad yet but In all honesty I could feel it in the lower back after this Project! However, the family was sooooooo nice! Very appreciative of the work and Prettiest little dog that went from barking at me to greeting me everytime I came in the door from a trip to the truck! I absolutely loved doing the work for this family!

The first bathtub I completed for them was a jetted bathtub made of cultured marble and a shower pan that was Fiberglass. These two Fixtures had the "just can't get it to look clean" problem. It happens because of surface scratches and the great news is that refinishing these fixtures, if truly refinished and not simply painted will be a permanent solution for the worn out problem.
